From the secret books of Authentic Yoga – Become aware of the SEEN – SEER to enter into PEACE

1. The form is seen, the eye is seer; the mind is both seen and seer. The changing moods of mind are seen, but the witnessing Self, the seer, is never seen- Vakya Sudha by Aadi Shankaracharya

Eye becomes the Seer when there is a form (Seen). Mind is Seer when there is a thought. Who becomes the Seer when mind becomes the Seen- Authentic Yoga?
When we say – I am stressed. I identifies with the stress. Drop this identification and we are FREE- authentic Yoga
We are always engaged with the SEEN only and never become aware of the SEER. The very awareness of SEER drops sufferings.
Reject the SEEN and accept the SEER- ignorance is dropped HERE and NOW- authentic Yoga
Declare – Peace is my essential nature – dive deep within and know PEACE is there – authentic Yoga
What is seen can never be the SEER. What is SEER is always there within- dive within and Know the SEER (thyself)

Integral management of Diabetes through Yoga and Ayurveda

Ancient wisdom of yoga and Ayurveda
Ayurveda master Sushruta ( 600 BC) terms Diabetes as Madhumeha( seat urine disease) as they used to check the ants if attracted to urine. He claims sedentary lifestyle, obesity, and stress are the causes and reversing them is the cure.
Ayurveda recognizes this as Kapha disorder ( kapha builds up foods, liquids, lifestyle , stress etc) which diminish the functioning of Agni ( gastric fire). Management of diabetes by Ayurveda includes diet modification, eliminating sugar and simple carbohydrates, limiting protein to prevent any damage of kidneys, limiting fats due to inability to digest, cleansing program ( due to auto antibodies in diabetics) , herbal massage, herbal cleansing of digestive tract and rest and relaxation at physical, muscular and emotional levels.
Yoga is a science of consciousness aims at spiritual awakening, and realization. However, many texts have mentioned that regular practice of Asana, Pranayama Mudra, Pratyahara, Dhyan, Measured diet will manage Diabetes effectively. A deep understanding of Hatha Yoga declares that any blockage, excess and less supply of Prana causes all diseases and its management is a cure. Further, higher practices of yoga aims at consciousness using the brain and mind rather than brain and mind using the consciousness is a definite cure for any disease, however, difficult to achieve. It demands regular meditation, a wakening to higher states of consciousness and consciously working with body , life and mind.
Integral Management of Diabetes
Modern age is the age of anxiety and stress. Yoga and Ayurveda can treat the lifestyle disorder by following the below regime in life:
1. Regular physical exercise program that brings harmony of body, life and mind (minimum 2.5 hours /week but more the better). The physical program must increased cardiovascular activity, massaging endocrine glands, relaxation of brain and nerves, raising energy level, reducing fatigue. It is recommended that 4.5 hours of weekly program in the beginning until body starts responding to the treatment should be undertaken. The physical exercises /practices are divided into different categories – Physical relaxation, subtle practices for major parts of the body, stretching and joint exercises , raising cardio pulmonary output, awakening physical consciousness etc will help manage diabetes.
2. Sat Karma and/or Panch karma –Panch karma of Ayurevda is little cumbersome process but Sat Karma of Yoga is easier and can be done easily. Kunjal, Sankh Prakshalana, Agnisar, Nauli should be performed daily.

3. Mudra- Hatha Yoga Mudra are different than that of Kar Mudras. Hatha Yoga Mudra involves physical practices; breathing and specific positions of the body that helps nervous, endocrine system brain and mind. The specific Mudra will help manage Diabetes.
4. Dietary change – measured diet for Diabetes – Preventive diet, health promotive diet and curative diet based on tridosha and triguna. Herbal remedies should initially be single herb mixed with food items taken during the day. Second level should include herbal mixtures and third level proper Ayurvedic prescription medications.
5. Adjunctive management is the best way to manage diabetes. The modern medication should not be stopped abruptly. It should continue with integral management and practices, until certain visible, subjective changes take place. Once these changes are visible, clear and subjective changes are dominant, modern medication may be decreased slowly.
6. Meditation practices should become integral part of the lifestyle to influence the body through higher consciousness. Active, conscious and regular practice of meditation is suggested until one discovers the inner consciousness, clam, poise, peace and calm is established.

Can a child aged 6-10 can practice yoga?

Child is a human being. All human being can practice yoga; therefore, child aged 6-10 can also practice yoga.
It is important to know what we mean by Yoga before we offer any practice to a child.
If yoga means to us only physical and breathing practices , then child need not to practice at all and he is already playing, moving his body spontaneously and also doing some breathing subconsciously. Most of us always try to bring uniformity even in gentle movements of the body for practice of postures. The spontaneity is killed when we try to bring uniformity in practice.

If yoga means progressive evolution of consciousness, then every child can practice yoga irrespective of any age, even at the time of birth. There is a story a child Astavakra, learnt all about yoga when he was in the womb of his mother and his father was delivering the discourse on yoga to his mother. The story may not be true.

If yoga means progressive release of unconsciousness, ignorance and veil of unconscious operation of the nature, then any child can practice yoga. in this case, yoga aims at raising level of awareness, organizing child consciousness inside and outside. There are many practices passed on to us over 6000 years of evolution of knowledge and practices of Yoga.
Recently , I was asked by a parent of a child to help her in changing her aggressive attitude, enhance concentration , memory and her relationship with her colleagues and parents at home. My thought instantly went to her consciousness, designed a program that can help her experience rest, relaxation and peace consciously. She practiced four groups of practices – Body Awareness Session in which she is given small practices aimed at consciously experiencing parts of her body and organize them into an orderliness for manifestation of positive attitude. However, I never told her that she is going to change her attitude. Second group was breathing with sound and raising awareness to hear the sounds within. It is from tantric discipline where master used to chant certain mantra and try to infuse the same through consciousness. It worked very fine and she started consciously experiencing the mantra in her mind. Third group of practices was relaxation practice in which she learnt how to consciously know stillness, rest and relaxation. She told me that she is experiencing heaviness in the body and also in the head. I know these experiences are indications her deep rest and relaxation. Later , I gave her only two postures with five point awareness to bring about synergy of body, brain, breath and mind. It worked fine

She will be coming to me now regularly 1 / 2 times a week and I want to see the changes she brings in her attitude. I am sure , according to yoga , she will be able to transform her present state of the mind and will start living in a new consciousness that will manifest peace, love, energy and heightened awareness.
