My heartfelt greetings to all for Christmas and New Year
One (Astavakra Gita) of the texts of authentic yoga says – if we transcend the body (consciously) and allow the mind to rest (withdrawal of mind scattered outside), we can enter into Peace and Happiness HERE AND NOW.
The above is one of finest understandings of authentic yoga and is the goal of Yoga.
My greetings, obedience, and respect to all my guides, mentors, teachers, who inspired me to tread the path of authentic yoga tradition.
My greetings and love to all my friends, students, people who helped me, guided me and showed me the ways to manifest what little I know from 600 years old yoga tradition.
With humility and dedication, I am dedicating New Year again to become an instrument of one and only one Self that dwells within all
Namaste
(Authentic Yoga Traditions asks to live, move, act in Peace, Harmony, and Happiness at all the time, anywhere, and everywhere.
Peace, Harmony, Happiness, Love, Wisdom (non-dual consciousness), Truth, all spiritual values. Spirituality is what transcends time, space, and causation. To go beyond mind and body in order to discover the essential nature, had been aspirations of humankind since ages. Authentic Yoga aims at self-discovery. It is a conscious movement from outer-self to inner-self. The outer –self what is our personal, professional, social lives, which we generally refer to as our life. but there is deeper, inner –self , what is referred as our spiritual or higher or real Self.
This real Self is essentially made or Peace, Harmony, Happiness, Wisdom. That is why Authentic Yoga says that we are potentially in/with Peace, Harmony, Happiness, Love, and Wisdom etc. to discover within, to experience their presence, to live in all of them, to act in and with them what Yoga aims at? Authentic Yoga aims at Human Excellence. Human Excellence means
Supported by
Therefore, Authentic Yoga is a celebration of life. It may start from celebrating an event in life but continues until life becomes celebration. All our festivals and events reminds us to discover the Real-Self to reach to the summit of evolution in order to make life – A Joy of Conscious Living.
An aspiration if takes the form of resolution, resolutions becomes will, will turns into action and action realizes the real Self is what Authentic Yoga is all about .
Let us aspire intensively and consciously for peace, happiness, wisdom, love. Let our aspirations become our resolutions that will remind, recall our goal to discover Real Self in the midst of all our actions. Let our resolution/s become /generate tremendous will to realize what we are actually made of ———————Love, Truth, Happiness, Harmony, Wisdom …………………)

Desire for discovery is authentic Yoga Tradition
Desire for possessions is not Authentic Yoga, however, to work and to possess for material life is ok.
Desire to discover within what is hidden within is authentic Yoga Tradition and is spiritual living
Desire to possess in order to secure happiness and peace in life is material life
Desire something outside is material life but to possess for the survival of the body is must. However when awakening takes place, spiritual consciousness takes over the material life also.
Desire something within is the beginning of self-awareness that leads to awakening within is authentic yoga Tradition
Desire to know, discover, and reveal Peace, happiness within is Authentic Yoga Tradition
Desire to know, acquire and possess outside leads to expectations – reduce the joy in life, brings sufferings, pain and problems

Dear friends
Sleep is termed as essential work or activity for human life. Sleep is one of three states of consciousness in modern science and one of the four states of consciousness in Authentic Yoga Tradition. Sleep helps our waking state of consciousness in which we live our personal, professional, social and spiritual lives. In order to excel in personal, professional, social and spiritual lives, we all need sleep that should be sound, deep, relaxing and refreshing.
Authentic Yoga is termed as science of consciousness as Sri Aurobindo says- “ Yoga is self-conscious finding”. if fourth state of yogic state or turiya state of consciousness , transcends all the first three states of the consciousness. And if we enter into the fourth state , we can also become aware of the sleep state of the consciousness. It becomes easy for us to know, understand the sleep state and induce sleep whenever we need it.
My Gurudev says,”my body sleeps but I never sleep now”. I see that I am sleeping as I you see my body sleeping.” This is wonderful state in which we witness sleep state of the consciousness in the fourth state. This awakening can help many sleep disorders .
I am giving a Talk and workshop on sleep disorders today at Princeton. Please follow the link for details http://www.shreyasyoga.com/s_authentic_yoga/programs/shreyas_events.php?id=21&catid=29

Latvia is small country with over 2million people but very vibrant, deep culture and always moving towards integration and harmony. Baltic sea is a beautiful sea widely covered with snow, makes Latvia more beautiful. There are many words in Latvian language came from Sanskrit language like the svastika is a Sanskrit word related to “well-being” or “health.” Latvian sveiki, an equivalent of “hello”, is also related to health. It is to wish for the health of the hearer. There are many Sanskrit words appear similar to Latvian language. It is not only the language but may myths, stories and parables are also similar.
Having written that while living in Riga, it seems to me that Latvians are in transition as they are still discovering their identity beyond Russians. They speak Russians and also speak Latvians but mostly Russians as Latvian language is still to become a common man language. But there is also a pressure to move to international arena where English Language is more important. I need or made to understand by many Latvians that younger generation will like to learn English language much more than their own mother tongue as it offers them better exposure to international business, trade and education.
Indian culture or traditions like Yoga, rites and rituals seems to have lost but people like them. Yoga is also practiced like a physical culture and not as a science of self discovery. Walking to main streets in Riga and also the old city, I see anxious calm over faces of younger and the old as if searching for something beyond what they are doing. I asked one beautiful woman working in a restaurant to smile before I will sit and have cup of tea/coffee. In the beginning, she became serious but then smiled and welcomes me to sit and smiled. Later I talked about the culture in detail. She was very much committed to Latvian culture but not fully aware of the same. This vacuum needs to be filled by the social workers, philosophers, academicians and experts before this gap may turn into the revival of vibrant culture here.
I talked to a young man who is a programmer who has lost himself in transition and suffers from loneliness and anxiety. Riga which is such a calm city and if younger generation are lost in their self created problems, may not be good. In spite of all this, Riga will continue to attract people from all over the world. The calmness in Riga and its beauty will surely become an attraction for people who wants to enjoy the nature , beautiful sea beach and warmth of people.
Yoga may become great attraction here as it can be practiced on sea shore along Baltic Sea. Meditation can be done on the sea beach or even a retreat can be arranged for people living here or people coming from other neighboring countries.
I am going to conduct three days Spiritual Retreat in which I will bring practices from Raja, Tantra, Bhakti, Hatha Yoga meditations. The retreat will begin on 3rd of December, 2010 in Dipika Retreat Center , 150 kms away from Riga. Please contact Mihail/Taras for further details
